I am drawn to the detritus on the shores of rivers, seas, and lakes, which are regularly ignored by fellow mudlarkers and beach scavengers alike. My belief is that the attitude of disposability prevalent in today’s world can only be confronted once more value is invested in the materials that we consider as waste. Through art, we can reveal new perspectives by elevating these materials beyond images of neglect.

‘Intense awareness of the environmental beauty normally comes as a sudden revelation…Homely and even drab scenes can reveal aspects of themselves that went unnoticed before, and this new insight into the real is sometimes experienced as beauty.’
